Perpetuating fear, shame or loathing can backfire on you. They beget more of the same. They give people a chance to avoid changing. Why? Because change means risk and risk evokes fear. This pretty much guarantees your message and hard work won’t spread.
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but it does change form. There are many situations where anger is understandable and justified. However, anger can either assist or undermine a movement. When anger drifts into ridicule, malice and name calling it changes from an “effective servant to a terrible master.” I know. I’ve had personal experience at becoming the dragon I set out to slay.
You don’t have to give up on your determination to make the world a better place. But you can, in the words of Marian Tompson, co-founder of La Leche League become a lover instead of a fighter for justice, peace and equity.
