“Look up,” said the Friendly Giant who was a staple of children’s television for decades.
“Look way, way up.”
When we hear the words “ashes to ashes, dust to dust” most of us are likely thinking they refer to the ground beneath us.
More likely they refer to stardust. Nature’s imagination is richer than ours. The universe is composed of stardust. We are stardust.
Looking to the heavens is ennobling, aspiring and humbling.
It reminds us that everyone and everything around us was made from the same sacred dust.
And that we can spread the heaven’s embroidered cloths beneath their feet. (Thanks WBY)
EH!
Super moon
Hallucinated –
vertical vertigo…
you were flecks of sand.
Tornado washed
into curled hair,
buried, granulated,
residue you didn’t
want washed – this…
skin’s cloak of stardust.
Close to you,
like lover’s mist
over
a super moon bigger than imagined.
Velvet folds and shadowed layers
of you.
You felt like dewy drops.
Hold, behold – you.
A ball of flames – a
comet’s tail – left
from the fall of Icarus. You grabbed it.

We are stardust
We are golden
And we’ve got to get ourselves
